Every effort has been made in verifying and authenticating all statements made in this book. The book “Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry-II”written by Dr. S.Sampath Kumar according to the earlier regulations has been written afresh in accordance with course contents as prescribed by the pharmacy council of India in the Education Regulations 2020. This book is deemed as a text book for B.Pharmcourse (V-Semester) The science including pharmacy has developed through critical comments, discussion and suggestions. Popularity of the book among students and their appreciation encouraged me. In this addition, emphasis is being laid on providing a simple format to understand the description of crude drugs. The recent information relating to biological sources, chemical constituents and medicinal uses of these drugs have been included. The diagrams have been made simple and self-explanatory by redrawing them to provide accuracy and better understanding. I express my deep gratitude to the publishers to monograph to various pharmacopoeia, reports on herbal drugs and phytopharmaceuticals from which I have gained knowledge for compiling the book. Constructive and helpful suggestions for improvement of future editions of the book will be highly acknowledged and appreciated.
