
1. General information : It is generally believed by most persons that Pharmacology is a difficult subject and very hard to remember. Have faith : Please have faith on Murugesh and also on this book. Even at the first look on the book, you will certainly feel that informations are given in order, precisely, neatly, clearly as also coherently. This feeling will certainly tempt you to read the book. 3. General Pharmacology : The first section General Pharmacology may be diffficult to study in the beginning. This is because of names of various drugs given as examples, may not be familiar. This is inevitable. No matter, it will become terrribly easy later on, when you study this section, after going through the entire Pharmacology. By this time all the names would have become familiar, and you will know why they are mentioned as examples. So initially study General Pharmacology as much as you can and also try to remember the names of drugs only as much as you can, and do not strain and panic. 4. Classification of drugs : These are given in each and every chapter and are important. You may find them difficult to memorise and remember. No worry. Please go through the entire chapter and now come back to classification. You will now be familiar with these names and also know why they are classified as that. Now you can very easily remember them, without any difficulty. 5. Actions, toxicities and uses : You should understand that all drugs do not have the same actions, toxicities and uses. They are different for each and also for individual drugs. Just as knowing an individual by face, you should know the essential and characteristic features of every drugs on their groups e.g. cholinergic or adrenergic drugs. You will become familiar with them as you go through the chapters. The essential features and important points are highlighted in this book by bold letters. Also mention these points in your answers and underline them. This will very much impress the examiner and also make him feel that you have studied and understood the subject. 6. Route of administration : It varies with different drugs, but is very easy to remember. Just know what drugs are given by inhalation, parenteral eg. insulin or oral route. Again, they are characteristic for most of the drugs. Special routes if any, such as Transdermal Therapeutic System (TTS), you just know what drugs are given by these routes. 7. Adverse effects : Adverse effects may not be difficult to remember. Mostly adverse effects are related to pharmacolofical actions and a correlation will help in easy understanding. Special adverse effects if any, just note them. Again they are high lighted by bold letters in this book. 8. Dose of drugs : Many students feel that it is very difficult to remember the dose. Each drug has an individual and different dose. It may be too small, large or very large. e.g. colchicine 500 micrograms, paracetamol 650 mg nalidic acid 4G. Just characterise which drug has a small dose and which drug has a large dose. 9. Study of ANS : Study of ANS is very easy, if you understand autonamic innervetion, the neuratransonitters and the site where they are released. These informations are clearly given in this books with proper and perfect diagrams. You will understand what are chotnergic or adrenergic actions and also the effects produced by blockers. Once you understand ANS, you will become terribly happy and you can understand the whole pharmacology easily. 10.Recollection : This is very very important in pharmacology. After going through each chapter, spend atleat 5 minutes for recollection. Recollect just the individual sub headings in sequence. If you can do this, you can build an excellent answer in the examination and the examiner will be very much impressed. Also this will help you to face oral examination.
